Build-out line

Applies on every goal kick, and any time the keeper has the ball in hand or under control.

Defense retreats behind their own build-out line. No need to wait for a whistle — play is live the moment the ball is released or moves.

Keeper distributes by throw or ground pass only — no punting, ever.

Offside can’t be called between the halfway line and the build-out line. Normal offside resumes once the ball crosses it.

Offside

Enforced at B9 — new vs. B8, where it wasn’t called. Lean on your ARs; that’s why B9 runs a 3-person crew.

Heading

Banned outright, games and practice, U11 and under.

Deliberate header → stop play, award an indirect free kick to the other team from the spot of contact.

Incidental contact is not an offense. Never a caution or send-off, even if it happens repeatedly.

Fouls & cards

Judge tackles the normal way — careless, reckless, or excessive force. No blanket ban on sliding, but reckless play still gets whistled.

Cards exist but are rare at this age — the job is mostly teaching and keeping it safe.

Crew & sign-ups

Standard B9 crew is 1 CR + 2 AR. Parents AR their own kid’s game and CR a different one.

Minimum 3 games reffed this season to count as an active volunteer.

WSSL logistics

Fields 101 & 103, Riverside Park. At field 103, parents watch from the promenade, not the field.

Submit a match report after every game — score plus a sentence is enough.
